WE DID IT!!
The GSR's Motorsports Park 'One Acre' Campaign is now complete.
We collected over $15,000 in less than 6 months!
Thank you to all for your fantastic show of support!

About the NCM Motorsports Park...
The National Corvette Museum is in the planning process to build a brand new, world class Motorsports Park. The Park will be located on approximately 300 acres of land with 1.5 miles of frontage on I-65 in Bowling Green, Kentucky, directly across the interstate from the Museum.

As one of the most centrally located and easily accessible driving facilities in the country, it will encompass two road courses, two karting tracks, an autocross course and a skid pad area. This premiere next generation facility will meet FIA and SCCA specifications. When completed, the NCM road course will be the longest such track in the United States... 5 miles with 27 turns!

Facilities...
Buildings will include grandstands, a control tower, classrooms, garages, pro shop, concession stand, fuel station and maintenance shop.

Long Range Plan...
Future Park developments include the construction of a tunnel under I-65 from the main NCM entrance to the track (car and truck traffic only, no trailers). Additionally, the construction of three bridges to allow infield access to both tracks would be part of the long term goals.

Uses...
Whether you're a serious automobile enthusiast or a first-time driver, this planned state of the art, multi-function driving facility will have a program to fit your needs. Planned uses include a High Performance Driver Education (HPDE) program, an educational facility for math, science and engineering programs, and the Operation of a state-of-the-art teen driver safety program.

Cost...
The estimated cost to build the NCM Motorsports Park is $20,000,000 (not including the I-65 tunnel and bridges). The NCM must raise the majority of the cost before construction can begin.

How the GSR can help...
Given our strong affiliation and past show of support for the NCM, we propose to up the ante and commit to a fund raising campaign such that, within the span of 3 years (thru 2012, if needed), we donate $15,000 to acquire one acre of land for the proposed Motorsports Park!

How the GSR will benefit...
Besides the pride which will come from our support, as a member of the "One Acre Club", the GSR and its members will gain special recognition as a founding member and key contributors to this substantial addition to OUR Museum. Plus... and this is really cool... we will earn a $15,000 credit towards private use of the facility. Can't you just imagine a future Grand Sport Registry Track Day event just for us? How very awesome would THAT be?!!

The GSR's committment...
The GSR itself is fully committed to this effort and as such pledges to donate a percentage of all GSR memberships, renewals, store sales, and ad fees through the life of this campaign. These donations will be updated monthly on the GSR web site and visible to all members.

How YOU can help...
Simple... just DONATE or make a PLEDGE to the campaign today!

The background...
Two years ago, we led a highly successful campaign to raise funds to become a Lifetime Club Member of the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. That $2500 goal was reached in record time! In May of 2009, members present during the Gathering event at the NCM voiced support for a fundraising campaign to purchase a Granite Bench, engraved with the GSR logo, for permanent placement on the grounds of the NCM. Again, the $5,000 needed for our impressive bench was raised in short order.

But what do we do now? How should we best continue our support of the NCM and where would our monetary donations be put to the best, most visible use? Without question, the proposed Motorsports Park complex offers us just that opportunity. Following our past practice of "go big or go home", many members have pushed for the GSR to accept the One Acre challenge, but give ourselves up to 3 years to do so.

By donating a full acre of land, our combined efforts will yield a lasting monument in recognition of our faithful support of the Museum and something which all GSR Members could take great pride in for years to come.

Obviously, $15,000 represents a substantial investment, but if every GSR Member donates even a small amount, we can easily realize this goal well in advance of our self-imposed deadline by the end of 2012. Our hope is to get many small donations rather than a few large ones. That way we can all take some pride and ownership in this worthwhile endeavor.

The National Corvette Museum (NCM) is a non-profit foundation exempt from federal income taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All donations to this campaign should be tax deductible as allowed by law (consult with your tax advisor for specifics).

It is our hope that each member of the GSR will see the value in such a bold move and choose to support this venture by making a small donation. Granted, that may be a lofty expectation for most organizations, but the GSR is not like most other clubs. We've come to learn that our members are even more special than the unique cars we share a passion for.

Here is how the GSR's "One Acre" campaign will be run...

Donate to the GSR's 'One Acre' Campaign
    * The 'One Acre' Campaign will run from October 15th, 2009 thru December 31st, 2012 or until our target goal of $15,000.00 is reached, whichever comes first.

    * The ongoing status of our campaign will be kept updated on the GSR home page.

    * All donations are equally appreciated. Donation amounts will be kept strictly confidential.

    * Unless they request to remain anonymous, a list of all contributor names (less amounts) will be posted at the conclusion of this campaign. Donors may also be recognized in an upcoming issue of the NCM magazine, "America's Sports Car."

    * Donors will receive an email acknowledgement from the GSR upon receipt of your donation.

    * The GSR will cover all administrative costs such as credit card bank merchant fees and donate a percentage of proceeds from memberships, renewals, store sales, and ad fees during the life of this campaign to a minimum of $1,500 (10% of the campaign goal).

PLEASE NOTE: THE 'ONE ACRE' CAMPAIGN IS NOW COMPLETE.
Even though we have already reached our $15,000 goal,
you may still make a donation if you wish to do so.
All excess funds received will be donated to the National Corvette Museum.

You may DONATE in the following ways:

    1. Send a donation check to:

      Grand Sport Registry
      ATTN: One Acre Campaign
      13644 Crystal River Dr
      Orlando, FL 32828
This is the preferred method to donate as it represents the least cost
to the GSR and more readily ensures a verifiable tax deduction for you.
Please make checks payable to the

    NATIONAL CORVETTE MUSEUM

Your check may be held for up to 30 days before being sent to the NCM as we will send our contributions on a monthly basis.

    2. Make a one-time instant donation via
PayPal, credit card, or debit card.

The GSR will pay the credit card merchant fees.

Thank you again for your fantastic show of support for the GSR and the NCM! It just goes to show (once again) what a great group the GSR really is.

THANKS!
