    1. Q: I don't own a Grand Sport Corvette. Can I still join the GSR?

A: Of course! Let's face it, not everyone can own one of the limited edition 1996, world-class C6, or supercar-like C7 Grand Sport Corvettes, let alone one of the original multi-million dollar 1963 GS factory race cars. But you don't have to own one of these very special Corvettes to share in the excitement they generate. While our obvious focus is the Grand Sport, owners and enthusiasts of all other regular production Corvettes are welcome here. All it takes is a deep appreciation for the marque and Zora's legend... a legend reborn in the GSR! Click here for a GSR membership application.

    2. Q: Why should I join the GSR?

A: If you own a Grand Sport Corvette or are a GS enthusiast, the GSR is *the* place to be. Besides obvious member benefits such as discounts in our online GSR Store and from most Corvette parts and accessories vendors, GSR membership allows you to exchange information with other GS enthusiasts which helps you maximize your enjoyment out of these very special Corvettes. We think you'll find the GSR to be something special and if you become active, you're sure to make some lifelong friends here. Come join us! Click here for a list of membership benefits.

    3. Q: What does it cost to join?

A: Current family membership fees are $35.00 through the end of the current calendar year or $50.00 through the end of the next calendar year. Renewals are discounted as long as you renew before your current membership expires. All regular memberships include one membership badge, window decal, and 10% discount in the GSR Store. Lifetime Memberships are $300.00 and include Lifetime membership badges for you and your spouse, Lifetime window decals, a GS lapel pin, and 15% discount in the GSR Store. US military veterans are eligible for a special discount on GSR Lifetime Memberships. Click here for a GSR membership application.

    4. When does my GSR Membership expire?

A: All memberships, except GSR Lifetime, of course, expire at the end of the calendar year. You may determine your membership expiration date via the GSR Membership Roster (in the Members Only section) or the "Forgotten Password" utility found on the GSR Home Page. You may renew your membership or upgrade to Lifetime status at a reduced rate at any time before your current membership expires. After that, you will have to rejoin at the new member rate.

    5. Help! I lost my GSR Members Only password!

A: No worries. Use the "Forgotten Password" utility found on the GSR Home Page. Just enter the email address you used when you joined the GSR and our database will email you the GSR Members Only password, your membership status/expiration date, discount code, GSR Forum Username, and other information.

Note that the GSR Forum password is *different* from the GSR Members Only password. If you need your GSR Forum password, see the tip, below.

    6. Help! I lost my GSR Forum password!

Note that the GSR Forum password is different from the GSR Members Only password (see above). Due to security purposes, we are unable to email you your GSR Forum password but you can reset it yourself online. On the GSR Forum Sign In Page, click on the "Forgot your password?" link in the lower right corner. On the next screen, enter the email address you have registered with the GSR and the system will email you info on how to recover your GSR Forum password.

If you only need your GSR Forum Username, use the "Forgotten Password" utility found on the GSR Home Page. If you would like to change your GSR Forum Username to something else, just contact [email protected] for assistance.

    7. Q: I enjoy the GSR Email List, but my inbox is overflowing! How can I reduce the messages I receive and yet still stay in touch?

A: Normally, the GRAND SPORT REGISTRY Email Discussion List (or GSR-L, driven by the NCM ListServ) sends out messages to its subscribers as soon as it receives them. This is known as the Traditional Email Mode and is the GSR-L's default arrangement, and frankly, it's the one most prefer as it provides the most immediate response. If you that feel your inbox is overflowing with email from the GSR Email Discussion List, however, you should try the HTML INDEX mode. In this mode, you will typically only get a single email from the list per day with a hyperlinked list of all that day's individual posts arranged by subject. If interested in any given post, just click on the link to read and/or reply to the message online. HTML INDEX mode allows you to quickly scan the topics available, read those of interest and ignore the others while keeping your inbox more manageable. Sweet!

If you currently subscribe to the GSR Email List, you can switch over to HTML INDEX mode by simply sending an email to [email protected] with the words:

    SET GRAND-SPORT HTML INDEX

in the body of the email. You can leave the subject line blank.

You can always switch back to Traditional Email Mode with the command:

    SET GRAND-SPORT NODIGEST

If you are NOT currently subscribed to the GSR Email List, you must JOIN the list first to try HTML INDEX mode. Visit the Grand-Sport List Options page to join or leave the list, or change delivery options.

You should also try out our other communication options such as the GSR Forum and our GSR Facebook Page.

    8. I switched over to HTML INDEX mode for the GSR Email List, but now it asks for a ListServ password when I try to read messages. Why?

Fortunately, this issue does not effect most users but if the GSR Email List ever asks for your LISTSERV Password, just follow this link to establish a ListServ password of your own choosing:

    http://maillist.corvettemuseum.com/cgi-bin/wa.exe?GETPW1=ACTMGR1%3DGRAND-SPORT

If you have cookies enabled on your machine, you should be able to access the List without ever having to login again.

    9. What is the difference between DIGEST and INDEX modes for the GSR Email List?

Both are similar methods meant to reduce inbox clutter from the GSR Email List. DIGEST sends an entire day's worth of messages as attachments in a single email while INDEX (HTML version) sends hyperlinks to the previous day's messages. Click here for a full description of all the various DIGEST and INDEX mode options available to GSR-L subscribers.

    10. How can I read old GSR Email List messages I may have missed?

Current subscribers to the GSR Email List can search the GSR Archives, Post to the GSR List, and Change Settings through our GSR Archives page at http://maillist.corvettemuseum.com/cgi-bin/wa.exe?A0=GRAND-SPORT.

    11. Why did vendor "XYZ" deny giving me a GSR discount when I tried to place an order with them?

As explained in your GSR Welcome Email and in the Members Only Section of the GSR website, the GSR has arranged a discount with most of the major Corvette parts and accessories vendors... BUT you must place your order through the GSR by emailing [email protected], not by calling the vendor directly!

Discounts typically run 10-15% excluding sale and clearance items. To order, email the GSR at [email protected] with the vendor name, part number, item description, retail price, and any other necessary details and we will attempt to place the order for you (min. order $100, please). The vendor will drop ship the item directly to you and the GSR will invoice you for the total plus the vendor's shipping charges.

And don't forget to check our own online GSR Store first to make sure we don't already list the item you are interested in at an even better price!

    12. I have not been receiving any messages from the GSR Email List for a long time. What's going on? Did you delete me?

When a member's Internet Service Provider (ISP) incorrectly flags email from the GSR List as suspected spam they will often block any such messages sent to you. The GSR ListServ keeps trying to send you email but your ISP keeps rejecting it. After multiple unusuccessful attempts to send you email because they get get bounced back by your ISP, the GSR's ListServ assumes your email address is no longer valid and automatically unsubscribes you.

Such blocks sometimes go away after a few days but may persist for weeks. AOL and Yahoo are particularly bad about this but Gmail and other services act up from time to time, too. Unfortunately, there is nothing anyone from the GSR can do to stop it as the offending ISP's won't listen to us because we are not their customer. You are, however. If it continues to happen, you should complain to them... LOUDLY!

Remember you can always resubscribe/unsubscribe/change your List options at this link:

    http://maillist.corvettemuseum.com/cgi-bin/wa.exe?SUBED1=GRAND-SPORT.

And if you think you may have missed any messages from our List, you can always view the GSR Email List Archives. It includes every message posted to our List going all the way back to 2003.

You must be a List subscriber to access the archives, of course, so if it doesn't recognize you resubscribe at the link, above.

    13. I got a message saying I was automaticaly unsubscribed from the GSR Email List. Why did this happen?

If you receive an message from the ListServ that looks something like the one below, READ IT as it explains WHY you were automatically removed.

As explained in FAQ #12, above, this usually happens when a member's Internet Service Provider (ISP) incorrectly flags email from the GSR List as spam and blocks them from you. After multiple attempts to send you email (that get bounced back by your ISP), the List assumes your email address is no longer valid and automatically unsubscribes you.

    14. I previously unsubscribed or was removed from the GSR Email List. How do I sign back up?

You may use the GSR Email List online interface to subscribe or unsubscribe, read or post messages, search the GSR Archives, and change preferences at http://maillist.corvettemuseum.com/cgi-bin/wa.exe?A0=GRAND-SPORT.
